Agency Information- AHEDD is a private, non-profit agency that was founded in 1977 to provide employment and training services to persons with disabilities. Around 1991, AHEDD expanded and began providing similar services to those receiving welfare. AHEDD currently employs 55 people and provides employment and training services in at least 14 Pennsylvania Counties and three Dover Counties. The offices serving these counties are located in the following areas: Philadelphia, Bucks County, Harrisburg, Lebanon, York, Reading, Lancaster, Pittsburgh, and Dover, DE.

Programs- AHEDD officers a variety of individualized and group services to individuals with disabilities and people receiving welfare. All those seeking employment can receive assistance with: resume preparation; appropriate completion of job applications; job interviews; job search; training assistance at the job site; counseling for job related concerns; transportation training; and follow up services to ensure that the individual is satisfied with their job and meeting the expectations of the employer.

Eligibility Criteria- The basic criteria for individuals referred to AHEDD are; they must have a documented disability that limits their ability to secure and maintain employment and be willing to seek employment.
In addition to AHEDD's criteria, certain funding source may impose additional requirements for eligibility. Requirements can vary between funding sources; therefore, individuals interested in services should call AHEDD for more information. AHEDD's welfare programs require that the individual be determined eligible and be referred by his/her local County Assistance Office.

Accessibility- AHEDD's offices are accessible and barrier free. As for the accessibility of services, AHEDD ensures that all services are accessible to individuals with disabilities as required under the ADA and Rehabilitation Act.

Languages Spoken- Interpreters are provided by AHEDD where appropriate to overcome any language barriers.
